Kira, tiny waldorf doll
Kira talked me into taking her for a walk on this winter weather. We took the sledge, and it was way too big for her. Kira quickly climbed on it, because she would otherwise fall knee deep in snow as she walked. She reached her little hands up all the time to catch falling snowflakes. "Beautiful, but so cold", "Oh, this one is my favourite", "Can we take them home and make a bed to jump on it?", "In the summer we could cool our drinking water in it, right?" Kira had lots of questions and even more new experiences she wanted to share. A while later we met a small snowman built by children. He had hands made of tree branches and eyes made of stones. "Is he real, for real?" she asked over and over. "He must be cold, I wear a cardigan and a hat, and he doesn't" my explanation that a snowman is made of snow and he can't be cold was for nothing. "We will be back soon" she told him and pulled me back home by my shoe laces. There we picked up an old hat and gloves, a long woollen scarf and a warm jumper for the snowman. I made warm tea and we were ready to return to our new friend. I helped Kira to build high stairs from snow, so that she could reach snowman's head and help him get dressed. Once it was done, she sat on his shoulder and chatted with him for long hours, sipping warm tea to keep her warm.
Kira is a tiny girl. She is 21 cm/ 8,5" tall and she has long, natural goat hair. Kira got a warm, cappuccino shade skin and bright, brown eyes. I like to hold my tiny dolls, they look like Cinderella, you can close them in your palms or put them in a cup. The biggest challenge with Kira was her hair. I really wanted to make a small doll with mohair weft hair. But because of the small size, I had to sew it to her head by hand. The result is great, but my fingers felt the intense needle work way to hard. I think I won't try the same technique on a larger doll ;) While making Kira's hairstyle I had to turn into a hairdresser. I had to cut her very long hair so that they looked natural and straight. I had no idea it was such a difficult job. At the end I decided to give her a fringe. It was a stressful move, because if I didn't like it, I would have to make Kira's hair all over again. Thankfully, she turned out perfectly. Sometimes a doll needs a little detail, that makes her unique. In Kira's case it was her fringe.
Kira has large set of clothes. She has a dress, leggins, overalls, pants, shoes, hat and a cardigan. I just couldn't let her travel without warm clothes. All of her wardrobe is made of highest quality cotton, jersey, alpaca and wool yarn.
